We are proud to present the first ever English-Cantonese glossary of human trafficking terms「香港人口販運英粵詞典」 for the Hong Kong community!
This glossary currently contains 185 English human trafficking terms and counting, as well as Cantonese slang phrases which are commonly used and their explanations. This glossary is the culmination of hard work by the STOP. team, alongside numerous other individuals passionate in the fight against human trafficking. It has been thoroughly reviewed and edited by experienced practitioners, academic including university professors and lawyers from Hong Kong.
This glossary provides the latest and relevant words frequently used in the human trafficking industry, carefully explained in layman’s terms. It is the perfect tool for anyone hoping to gain a better understanding and deeper insight into this sensitive subject.
Our aim in producing and publishing this glossary is to educate the public shedding light and providing standardized definitions of human trafficking terms for the Cantonese-speaking community, and to spearhead conversations in society with a shared understanding of the local language. We aim to educate, foster discussions, and ultimately raise awareness among the general public with the goal to try and put a STOP to human trafficking. We believe this glossary is the beginning of the conversation.
